Frequently asked questions

Get to know the workflow, understand what is included, and find the details you need before your next bid.

Getting started

Which trades does ScopeSift support?

ScopeSift supports quantity takeoffs for HVAC, siding, and electrical. Each takeoff covers one trade. If your plan set includes multiple trades, create a separate takeoff for each. Additional trades are in development.

What can I upload?

One PDF and one trade (HVAC, siding, or electrical) per takeoff, up to 100 MB and 250 pages, or up to five selected pages from that PDF. Use the source PDF, with readable drawings, notes, and schedules. Upload only plans you are authorized to use.

Is my first takeoff free?

Eligible first-time customers receive one free first takeoff, with no credit card required. That is one takeoff total across HVAC, siding, and electrical, not one per trade. Existing use or subscription history can affect eligibility. Your account shows your available allowance.

Do I need to leave the browser open?

Once processing starts, it continues if you close the tab. Return to your project to see its status and results. Let the file finish uploading before leaving the page.

Measurements and editing

What does ScopeSift measure for each trade?

HVAC takeoffs draft duct lengths and air-device and equipment counts. Siding takeoffs draft surface areas, opening deductions, and linear trim. Electrical takeoffs draft device and fixture counts and lengths for routes explicitly drawn on the plan. Available measurements depend on what your source drawings show.

Does electrical takeoff calculate all installed wire?

No. A connection line or circuit arc is not necessarily a physical installation route. Check drawn routes and add your own routing, installation allowances, and pricing as needed. Do not treat the takeoff as an automatic conductor-sizing calculation or a complete circuit schedule.

What if a drawing has no reliable scale?

ScopeSift asks you to confirm scale before calculating affected scale-dependent quantities. Check the scale against a known dimension on that sheet. A guessed scale should never become the basis of your bid.

Can I correct a missing or extra item?

Yes. Open the source drawing to add count markers, draw or edit runs and polygons, move vertices, and remove unwanted shapes. Saved edits update the related quantities. Use undo and redo while editing, and check the result against your plan.

Do I have to approve every item to finish a takeoff?

No. Completed takeoffs open to Results. Confirm scale if it is missing. Drawing inspection and editing remain available so you can check the work before relying on it; there is no separate sequence of item approvals or page sign-offs.

Are AI quantities guaranteed to be accurate?

No. Plan clarity, scale, symbols, and drawing detail affect the draft. Review important quantities against the source and make corrections before bidding. Processing failures and incomplete work are identified; they are not proof that the unmeasured scope is zero.

Estimates and exports

What is the difference between a takeoff and an estimate?

A takeoff measures and counts the work shown on the drawings. An estimate applies your prices and allowances to that work. ScopeSift provides editable quantities and an estimate worksheet; you supply the pricing and decide what belongs in the final bid.

Which export formats are available?

Export takeoff rows to CSV or Excel, with source-sheet references. You can also build a priced estimate and export an estimate PDF. Check units, waste, columns, and totals before using an export in another estimating system.

Can I switch from Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or STACK?

You can evaluate ScopeSift on the same source PDF you use today and compare the quantities and export workflow. ScopeSift does not promise a native import of another product’s saved measurements, assemblies, or project history.

Billing and support

Do I need a subscription after my free takeoff?

No. Buy a single takeoff or choose the monthly Professional plan. Current prices and the monthly included allowance appear on the pricing page and at checkout. Each purchase or included takeoff covers one trade.

See current prices
What happens if processing fails?

Work in progress reserves allowance. Processing limits can leave a run incomplete. Failed, canceled, empty, or incomplete runs do not use a takeoff. If something looks wrong, contact support with the project name and the error shown.

Do takeoffs roll over or expire?

Included subscription takeoffs reset each monthly billing cycle and do not roll over. Purchased takeoffs do not expire while your account is active. If you delete your account with unused purchased takeoffs, you can choose to give them up without a refund.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. Cancel anytime; access continues through the paid period. Fees already paid are generally nonrefundable except where required by law.

Can my team share a plan?

Checkout covers one seat. Separate team logins are not yet available. Contact us to discuss your team's workflow before buying for multiple people.
